Latino Family Involvement
This full-day workshop is designed for elementary school educators who have already taken the Four Keys to Latino Academic Success and want more. Research shows that the expectations of middle class white teachers and low income Latino parents about school are quite different. Both parents and teachers are often bewildered by the demands each seems to place upon the other in school settings. How can schools successfully involve families who may have weak literacy skills and little understanding of American schools? This workshop explores Latino family involvement in education in depth, and gives you concrete strategies to engage parents in their children’s schooling successfully.
